Earlier in May, the Korea-Japan-China summit was held in Seoul for the first time in four years and five months, restoring the mechanism of cooperation between the two countries.
Based on this, President ∀ is expected to present concrete measures to strengthen ASEAN+3 cooperation at this year's ASEAN+3 Summit.

After the ASEAN+3 summit, the Korea-Japan summit, which was confirmed to be held today, is expected to proceed immediately.President

Yoon will meet Prime Minister Ishiba, who took office on the 1st, for the first time in nine days.Let's listen directly to all of President

Yoon's remarks.

[Yoon Suk Yeol / President]
Prime Minister Ishiba, Prime Minister Lee Chang, I am glad and pleased to meet the leaders of each country like this.

This year is an important turning point in today's ASEAN+3 cooperation journey.

In May, the 9th Korea-Japan-China Summit was held in Seoul for the first time in four years and five months.

The restoration of the cooperation mechanism between Korea, Japan and China, which is one of the pillars of ASEAN+3, is a good sign of stronger ASEAN+3 cooperation.

This morning, a comprehensive strategic partnership was established and declared at the ASEAN-Korea Summit.

In this way, all three countries of Korea, Japan and China have completed the highest level of partnership with ASEAN. By strengthening cooperation among Korea, Japan and China through ASEAN+3 cooperation and a virtuous cycle, it was an opportunity to leap forward for ASEAN+3.

Leaders, today we are living through an era of complex crises.

Competition and segmentation have prevailed rather than open cooperation, and transnational threats have come to threaten the daily lives of all mankind. South Korea has steadily expanded its contribution at the ASEAN+3 level based on its firm support for ASEAN centrality.

In particular, as the theme of this year's ASEAN Summit is strengthening connectivity and resilience, the Republic of Korea wants to strengthen connectivity so that capital, goods, and people in the region can flow more freely.

If the connection is improved, our resilience in the face of a crisis will also improve.

To be specific, the Korean government was able to see the results in May this year after leading the agreement to significantly enhance the effectiveness of the Chiang Mai Initiative's multilateralization.

In addition, the contribution to the ASEAN+3 emergency rice reserve system has been doubled this year to improve connectivity and resilience against the food crisis.

Furthermore, we will double the number of participants in the campus Asian student exchange program to strengthen human connection in the region.

In the future, the Korean government wants to expand cooperation and contributions at the ASEAN+3 level without wavering.

I hope today's meeting will serve as a meaningful forum for discussion to further strengthen ASEAN+3 cooperation.

Thank you.
