50,000 households of LH construction rental housing are left 'empty'

Among the construction rental houses built and supplied by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation and LH, 50,000 households have been left vacant for more than six months, and 9,500 of them have never been rented since completion.

Kwon Young-se, a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, said in a LH parliamentary audit today that as of August this year, there were 985,300 LH construction rental houses nationwide, of which 49,800 households, or 5% of them, were vacant.

Representative Kwon said this is a phenomenon caused by expanding supply to areas where settlement conditions are immature or non-metropolitan areas where demand is insufficient, and that this kind of supply is not actually helpful.
