Recently, as the number of unexpected pests increases due to climate change, the importance of forecasting activities to prevent pest damage is increasing day by day.

Smart technology has been developed to examine and inform pests in real time without additional manpower.

Reporter Choi Myung-shin reports.

It is a soybean plantation in Gimje, North Jeolla Province.

Two equipment with solar panels were installed side by side in the middle of the soybean field.

an equipment for unmanned capture of pests that harm field crops, called
Noreen ash and tobacco spider moths, the first and second pests of the
bean crop alert, have been caught side by side.

It was lured using the same species of Saint Fermon.

It is operated based on artificial intelligence, so you can check the type and number of pests as well as the direction of pest inflow.

[Hong Seo-yeon / Production Technology Development Department of Rural Development Agency: It has the advantage of being able to check trap data from a long distance and in real time, and automatically converting the number of pests, so you can accurately check when the pest occurs....]

As a result of field verification over the past two years, the accuracy of image reception and discrimination was higher than 90%.

It was found that working hours were reduced by 200 hours per year and costs by 10 million hours per year compared to manually based on the survey point.

[Cho Young-min / Researcher of Crop Food Department, Jeonbuk Agricultural Research & Extension Services: If unmanned prediction traps are distributed, they can respond without visiting the site, so damage can be minimized.]

It's not good news for a farmhouse.

[Han Eun-sung / Soybean Farmhouse: We can check the pests in advance through traps, so we expect you to get a lot of help in making a control plan or selecting the exact control drug]

The Rural Development Administration plans to expand the target pest group of unmanned prediction traps, which are currently three types, and provide notification services on the expected timing of control soon.
