South Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) President Hwang Ju-ho said KHNP has the right to export nuclear power plants overseas under a licensing agreement signed in 1997 over an intellectual property dispute with Westinghouse in the U.S. over the export of nuclear power plants.

President Hwang made the remarks yesterday (10th) when asked by Chairman Choi Min-hee to explain his position in the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on KHNP.

He also explained that the progress of negotiations with Westinghouse regarding the export of Czech nuclear power plants will determine whether to pay royalties or distribute areas of work.

Earlier in 1997, KHNP signed a license agreement that stipulates the use of nuclear power plant technology from "CE," an American nuclear power plant technology company, and export nuclear power plants based on it.

Three years later, Westinghouse and CE merged, but KHNP insists the previous license agreement is still valid.
