A man in his 20s who tried to kill his classmate in the delusion of being bullied in the past was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The Bucheon Branch of the Incheon District Court sentenced A, a man in his 20s, to eight years in prison with treatment and supervision today (11th) on charges of attempted murder.

The court said that the victim suffered injuries that required long-term treatment and was having difficulty finding a job due to post-disability, but that it considered the fact that A committed the crime while he was mentally and physically weak.

Mr. A was put on trial on March 4 on charges of attempting to stab a man, a classmate of an elementary school living next door, to death inside an apartment complex in Ojeong-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Mr. A claimed to have been bullied by Mr. B when he was in school together, but the prosecution investigation did not confirm that Mr. B actually bullied Mr. A.

A had received psychiatric treatment in the past, but it was found that he did not take medicine at the time of the crime.
