The National Human Rights Commission of Korea judged that the act of golf clubs that did not sell membership to women was unreasonable discrimination.

The NHRC recommended that a golf club in Gyeonggi Province, which did not accept female membership, be improved so as not to restrict women from joining full membership.

Earlier, the petitioner A tried to purchase a membership of the golf club for his wife, but was rejected, saying, "The membership of the golf club is limited to men," and filed a complaint with the NHRC in June last year.

The golf club claimed that there was a lack of storage boxes for women in the facility, and it was found that the proportion of storage boxes was 15% for women, but only 2.7% for full female members.

The NHRC said the golf club was established in the 1980s and designed mainly for men, who were the main customers at the time, and that restricting women's full membership without justifiable reasons is a violation of gender equality rights.
