Police have launched a forced investigation into allegations that customs officials at Incheon International Airport helped Malaysian drug gangs smuggle methamphetamine into the country.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul raided Incheon International Airport's customs for about five and a half hours yesterday (9th) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Police launched an investigation last year after detecting circumstantial evidence that seven customs officials helped them get out of the arrival hall without passing through security screening during a Malaysian drug gang's attempt to smuggle methamphetamine.

However, a National Assembly hearing was held in October last year, raising suspicions of external pressure on the presidential office's investigation, including that the investigation team leader was instructed by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency officer to delete the phrase related to the Korea Customs Service.
