Dow and S&P 500 set a new high...All three major indexes are up.

All three major indexes of the New York Stock Exchange ended strong, with wholesale prices in the U.S. below expectations and banks reporting strong earnings in September.


On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow rose 0.97% from the previous session and the S&P 500 rose 0.61% to another high.

The Nasdaq closed 0.33% higher than the previous session.

For the week, all three indexes were up more than 1%, extending their five-week winning streak.

The U.S. Labor Department reported September that the producer price index was the same as the previous month, missing market expectations by 0.1%p.

In addition, as major financial companies began reporting third-quarter earnings, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and BlackRock reported higher-than-expected earnings, sending their shares up 4% to 5%.
