A man in his 40s was sentenced to prison for assaulting the police who were dispatched after reporting to 112 that he would make a choice of extremes.

The Cheongju District Court sentenced 44-year-old A to three years and eight months in prison on charges of escape injury and drunk driving.

Mr. A is accused of assaulting a police officer who was dispatched after calling 112 several times in June last year at his home in Cheongju, saying he would choose an extreme group because he was drunk.

In April, he is also accused of driving a car with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.108% to avoid police waiting for a report that "my husband is going to the funeral home with a weapon," and hitting a motorcyclist and injuring him for eight weeks.

The court criticized A for his lack of law-abiding spirit, such as targeting the police whenever he was in a bad mood and having three drunk driving convictions over the past decade.
