Due to the long heat wave this year, the price of vegetables such as cabbage, radish, lettuce, and perilla leaves continues to rise.

The retail price of a cabbage is 8,635 won as of today (15th), up 32% from last year's average.

In the case of radish, the retail price of one rose 49% from last year to 3,605 won, and red lettuce rose as much as 80% to 2,619 won.

The price of perilla leaves and spinach has also increased by 30% and 36% from last year, respectively.

Park Soon-yeon, a distribution and consumption policy officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said 48 tons of imported Chinese cabbage have been imported and sold, and additional imports will come in soon.

In addition, the retail price of radishes is expected to stabilize from next month when radishes used during the kimchi-making season are shipped in earnest.
