Russia stressed that the "Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" signed with North Korea is "important because it strategically deepens cooperation in all areas, including security."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments at the briefing and said the treaty's wording did not need to be further explained because it was quite clear.

He added that he would share details when the ratification process of the North Korea-Russia Treaty is completed.

The treaty includes providing mutual defense against external attacks, such as providing military aid, and deepening security cooperation if one of the two sides is in a state of war due to an armed invasion.

Putin signed the treaty after visiting Pyongyang in June and having a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and submitted the ratification of the North Korea-Russia treaty to the House of Representatives the day before.

Russia's ratification process of the North Korea-Russia treaty came amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula, with North Korea claiming that South Korean drones sprayed leaflets over Pyongyang and exploding some sections of the inter-Korean road.
