A police officer was killed and several others wounded in a shooting on a highway in the city of Yavne, south of Tel Aviv, Israel.

Israeli police say a police officer was killed and four others injured after a shooter opened fire on a police car on a highway in Yavne city on the 15th local time.

The police defined the incident as a terrorist attack.

The shooter, who has yet to be identified, was neutralized and killed by a citizen, it added.
