Attention is drawn to the heightened military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

After President Xi Jinping, Vice President of the Central Military Commission Zhang Yushia, the second-ranking Chinese military leader, met with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Bellowsov.

Following the inspection of the Chinese military honor guard a day earlier, Bellowsov also met with Defense Minister Dongjun.

It is interpreted as a visit to China to coordinate security agendas ahead of the reunion of President Xi Jinping and President Putin at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia next week.

[DONGJUN / Chinese Defense Minister: The two countries have a common desire to promote military cooperation. I'm sure we'll be good friends.]

[Andrey Bellowsov / Russian Defense Minister: Russia-China military cooperation is an important factor in increasing defense capabilities and maintaining global and regional stability.]

It was a pre-planned visit, but it is considered unusual in conjunction with the heightened military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Just in time, there were reports that a treaty to strengthen North Korea-Russia relations to the level of a military alliance has entered the ratification process.

It says that if one of the two sides is invaded by force, the other will provide military aid.

In Beijing, there is also an atmosphere that considers the situation more serious than in Seoul.

North Korea is turning similar to the one that started the Korean War through secret agreements with the former Soviet Union.

[Maoning / Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman: It is imperative that tensions on the Korean Peninsula are not in the common interests of all parties and that the conflict does not escalate further.]

At that time, China had a historical view that it was forced to intervene after opposing the war.

The basic position is that they do not want unrest on the Korean Peninsula, as they missed the opportunity for unification by diverting troops to land in Taiwan to the Yalu River.

However, on the contrary, in the United States, there is also a scenario that the U.S. could simultaneously cause war on the Korean Peninsula and Taiwan in order to disperse the U.S. military's responsiveness.
