U.S. sanctions on pro-Palestinian charities... "funding terrorism"

The U.S. government has announced that it has put a pro-Palestinian group, the Samidun Inmates Solidarity Network, on its discharge list.The U.S. Treasury Department said in a press release that the group was a charitable organization disguised as the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine, designated a terrorist organization.

The Treasury also included Khalid Barakat, the group's leadership, in the discharge list, pointing to a key role in external fundraising for terrorist groups.

The Canadian government also said it has designated Samidun as a terrorist group along with the United States.

The State Department said it would continue to block disguised organizations that finance terrorism by disguising them as humanitarian organizations and would work with partners and allies to do so.
