The construction site of the so-called "vertical expansion" remodeling apartment, a remodeling method that raises the number of existing apartment floors, has been unveiled.

In fact, as the number of vertically expanded complexes is increasing, attention is being paid to whether the remodeling business will accelerate.

Reporter Choi Doo-hee is back.

The country's first vertically expanded remodeling complex, it aims to move in March next year.

The existing complex was horizontally expanded to increase the equilibrium, and three floors were raised again by vertical expansion.

Vertical expansion is a remodeling method that raises the number of existing apartment floors, allowing up to 15% of the existing number of households to be added for general sale.

Compared to other extended remodeling, the standards applied to structural safety are also stricter.

In Seoul, these vertically expanded complexes are increasing, and both the government and construction companies prefer remodeling less than reconstruction.

There is also a phenomenon of being pushed back from policy priorities due to low business feasibility and relatively small housing supply effects.

However, the advantage of remodeling is that it is possible to quickly repair old houses and reduce carbon emissions compared to reconstruction.

[Lee Won-sik / Head of Sales for POSCO E&C Remodeling: We can improve the quality of life faster than reconstruction by replacing various aging facilities, expanding parking lots, expanding communities, improving safety performance, and reorganizing spaces that fit trends]

In addition, as apartment complexes that are difficult to reconstruct due to the high floor area ratio have no choice but to choose remodeling as an alternative, institutional support is also needed to revitalize remodeling.

[Park Hap-soo / Adjunct Professor of Konkuk University Graduate School of Real Estate: In order to expand the remodeling project, a prospective institutional review is needed to introduce various designs such as floor area ratio expansion, demolition of internal walls through floor plan reconstruction, and underground parking lots to promote the project....]

Currently, there are 155 complexes that are being remodeled nationwide, with more than 121,500 households.
