Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo said he plans to improve the system so that spouse maternity leave, which will increase to 20 days from February next year, can be used even before giving birth.

He also said that if there is a reason to take care of the mother, we will push for a plan to allow her to use parental leave even during pregnancy.

Minister Kim explained at the "Working Parents Meeting" today (16th) that he confirmed the need for a flexible parental leave system along with demands for improvement of the system to expand men's participation in childcare.

Along with the expansion of maternity leave for spouses, parental leave benefits will increase to up to 2.5 million won per month from February next year, and the period of parental leave will be extended to up to 1 year and 6 months.
