Kang Jung-gu, head of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, predicted that medical students' leave of absence is an individual's right, and that it will be difficult to take medical classes next year under the current circumstances.

Kang answered the question of Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Jin-sook at the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee's parliamentary audit today (16th) whether she thinks taking a leave of absence is an individual right.

It also said it would be almost impossible if 7,500 medical students, who are not taking classes this year and the increased number of medical students next year, practice about taking classes next year, and it would be difficult even if they only theorize.

He added that he does not think five years will be possible even with the recent Ministry of Education allowing medical school courses to be shortened from six years to five years depending on the situation.
