Saengsuk, also commonly referred to as Residence, was introduced in 2012 in line with the growing demand for long-term foreign tourism.

It was used as a lodging facility where cooking was possible, but there were no special regulations, so it was actually used as a house in many cases.

As speculative demand surged, the government revised the Enforcement Decree of the Building Act in 2021 to make it mandatory for raw accommodation to register.

Originally, the grace period for compulsory implementation was scheduled to end at the end of last year, but it was postponed until this year.

As a result, 52,000 of the nation's raw accommodation were forced to pay enforcement penalties.

Yes. In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has prepared a customized support plan.

As you said, instead of blocking the possibility of housing exclusive use of new raw accommodation in the future, we will support the legal use of existing raw accommodation by changing its use.

As a result, we will propose an amendment to the Building Act within this year to allow new ripening to be sold only over 30 rooms, more than a third of the building, or more than an independent floor.

In addition, in order to induce existing accommodation owners to report their accommodation business, the ordinance was revised according to local government conditions to ease the standards for reporting the accommodation business.

We have improved the repurposing of officetels to facilitate them.

In this regard, we will listen to the officials of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
