More than 90 killed and 50 injured in oil tanker explosion in Nigeria

Foreign media reported that at least 94 people were killed and 50 injured when an overturned tanker exploded in Nigeria, Africa.


According to the Associated Press and Reuters, local police authorities said a tanker overturned near Khadija University in Taura, northern Jigawa Province, at around 11:30 p.m. local time on the 15th.

The vehicle exploded while nearby residents rushed to pump fuel from the overturned oil tanker, killing or injuring more than 140 people.

Local police explained that the death toll could rise as some of the injured people treated at nearby hospitals are in serious condition.
