The power of the people protected the Busan Geumjeong, which had emerged as a battleground, and the Democratic Party beat its opposition rivals in Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do.

As a result of the first by-elections held six months after the general election, there was no unexpected change.

In the election for the head of Busan's Geumjeong-gu District Office, which both the ruling and opposition parties pointed out as the biggest winner, Yoon Il-hyun, the People's Power, beat the chase of Kim Kyung-ji of the Democratic Party and won.

Although the opposition party tried to reverse the situation by unifying candidates at the last minute, the strength of the current ruling party, which has won eight local elections in history, has been proven once again.

In Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do, where the opposition candidates had a fierce three-way battle, Democratic Party candidate Jang Sae-il defeated minor party rivals to regain the position of county chief.

The election was so hot that the turnout exceeded 70%, but Lee Seok-ha of the Progressive Party had to be satisfied with the 30% and Jang Hyun of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party had to be satisfied with the 20% vote.

In the elections for Ganghwa, Incheon, and Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, candidates Park Yong-cheol and Cho Sang-rae of the Democratic Party won the election by using the party's traditional support base, respectively.

Both the ruling party, the People's Power, and the main opposition Democratic Party appear to have saved face by protecting strong areas despite various unfavorable factors from the ruling party and internal competition within the opposition party.

In the by-election of the Seoul Superintendent of Education, which was held regardless of political parties, liberal candidate Chung Geun-sik defeated conservative candidate Cho Jeon-hyuk to become the new head of the education administration.
