Exclusive Police seize and search headquarters of Seoul Private Taxi Association for 'suspected hiring irregularities'

Police have launched a forced investigation into the Seoul Private Taxi Association, which is suspected of making money transactions in exchange for directors and other positions within the association.


The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Task Force has been conducting a search and seizure at the headquarters of the Seoul Private Taxi Association in Sincheon-dong, Seoul since yesterday morning (16th).

In February, YTN reported allegations that Cha, chairman of the Seoul Private Taxi Association, and others received at least millions of won to up to billions of won in exchange for positions such as union directors and auditors.

The Seoul Private Taxi Association is a representative professional organization that most of the drivers who drive private taxis in Seoul, which has 50,000 members.

The police said they are conducting raids on union leaders suspected of corruption, but explained that they cannot reveal the specific scope of the seizure and search.
