Reuters and other foreign media reported that the U.S. government has suspended imports of some products from China's DJI, the world's largest drone company.

DJI said on the 16th local time that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is withholding U.S. imports of some of its drones, referring to the Uighur Compulsory Labor Protection Act.

The Uighur Compulsory Labor Protection Act took effect in June 2022 to combat forced labor by the U.S. government against minorities such as Chinese Uighurs.

DJI noted that the import holdout appears to be part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's broader plan to investigate the origin of the product.

There have been concerns in U.S. politics that DJI's products, which account for more than half of drones sold in the U.S., could pose a national security risk.

As a result, the U.S. House of Representatives last month passed a bill banning the use of new DJI products in the U.S. and is set to pass the Senate.

The U.S. Department of Commerce also said last month it was seeking opinions on whether to impose restrictions on Chinese drones.
