Korea Consumer Agency has high proportion of online travel agency flight ticket consultation

As demand for overseas travel increased, the number of consumer consultations related to airline tickets increased, and the proportion of consultations related to airline tickets purchased from online travel agencies was high.


The Korea Consumer Agency said the number of airline ticket-related consumer consultations received at the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center increased every year from 2,141 in 2021 to 4,117 in 22 years and 5,254 last year.

Of the number of consultations, 61.8% were related to online travel agencies, much higher than 35.7% for airline-related consultations.

In particular, there was no significant difference in ticket prices for online travel agencies and airlines, but it was found that online travel agencies had high cancellation fees, and some overseas travel agencies did not guide cancellation fees.

In the consultation regarding the online travel agency, 'Cancel?"Change? Delay and Refund Refund" was the highest at 56.1%, followed by "Penalty, Excessive Demand for Fees" at 24.3%, followed by cancellation of contracts and consultations on penalties, the survey found.
