The Jeju National Police Agency said on the 28th that it has recently launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault between Choi Dong-seok and Park Ji-yoon.

On the 18th, an online community posted, "We requested the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Police Agency to investigate Choi Dong-seok's sexual assault on Park Ji-yoon."

The writer said, "As the substance of sexual assault has been revealed, it is necessary to clearly examine whether Choi Dong-seok has essentially violated Park Ji-yoon's right to sexual self-determination."

Such suspicions arose through a dispatch report on the 17th. In the transcript of the conversation between the two released at the time, a conversation suggested that Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok had an unwanted marital relationship. In response, Choi Dong-seok protested, saying, "It's possible between couples," and Park Ji-yoon countered, "A sexual assault is established between couples."

The police reportedly assigned the case to the Women and Youth Division and launched an investigation. In 2013, the pro-conflict regulation on sex crimes was abolished, allowing investigations into perpetrators to be conducted even if there is no victim's complaint.

Choi Dong-seok and Park Ji-yoon, who are the same classmates as KBS's 30th open recruitment announcers, married in 2009 and had one son and one daughter, but they were disbanded last year after 14 years of marriage.

Among them, it was revealed that Park Ji-yoon filed a lawsuit for damages against Choi Dong-seok and his acquaintance A in June. The first hearing date was held on August 27, and the second hearing date was scheduled today (29th), but it was postponed to November.
