Over the past six years, the number of underage victims related to "digital sex crimes," such as the production and dissemination of illegal filming such as deepfake sex exploitation, has increased more than 22 times.
According to the data received from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family by Rep. Jeon Jin-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Women and Family Committee, the number of victims of digital sex crimes under their teens increased from 111 in 2018 to 2,476 as of September this year.
Compared to the increase in total digital sex crime victims from 1,315 to 9,032 over the same period, the increase was much sharper.
