Zelensky "could take control of the Russian Kursk nuclear power plant"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed he was able to take control of the nuclear power plant in the Russian mainland Kursk province but did not.

According to Ukrainian media on the 30th local time, President Zelensky said, "If we wanted to take over the nuclear power plant, we could have done so, but we didn't want to," adding, "We don't take over key infrastructure like they did with the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant."

Russia has controlled the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine since the beginning of the war.

When Ukrainian forces stormed Kursk, some interpreted that they were trying to take control of the Kursk nuclear power plant and trade it for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

The nuclear power plant in Kurchatov, Kursk is currently about 40 km from the occupied Ukrainian army.

President Zelensky also said he had received only 10% of the military aid approved by the U.S. Congress earlier this year and demanded that it be executed quickly.

Regarding the media's request for a Tomahawk missile from the United States, he said, "How should I understand this message? It means there is no confidentiality between the partners," he said, expressing his dissatisfaction.

The New York Times reported earlier that President Zelenskyy asked for a Tomahawk missile with a range of 2,400 kilometers as part of a "non-nuclear deterrent package," and that a senior U.S. official said it was a completely unfeasible demand.
