Ukraine has claimed that 4,500 North Korean troops sent to Russia will arrive at the border this week and be put into action next month.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Nations Serhiy Olehovich Kislica made the remarks at a meeting of the U.N. Security Council on the 30th local time.

In addition, the North Korean military is wearing Russian military uniforms and mixing in ethnic minority units to hide its identity, and more than 12,000 people, including 500 officers and three generals, are being trained in five eastern regions of Russia.

Another Ukrainian official said North Korean engineering units were already stationed in Russian-occupied territory in the eastern province of Donetsk.

According to Ukraine's state-run news agency Ukraineform, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian disinformation response center, said they were engineering units and had not yet participated in the battle.

He also stressed that the North Korean military's threat should not be underestimated, saying it would help the North Korean military redeploy Russian troops to Kharkiv, near the northeastern border.
