The names of three general-level soldiers who accompanied North Korean troops dispatched to Russia have been released.

Kim Young-bok, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Ri Chang-ho, director of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, and Shin Geum-chul, major general of the People's Army.

In a statement to the UN Security Council on the 30th local time, Ukraine's delegation to the UN said that at least 500 North Korean officers included three general-level officers.

Kim Young-bok, deputy chief of staff, is one of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's military aides and has appeared with Kim in public seven times this year alone.

He was the one who led the so-called "storm unit" of the 11th Army of the Special Operations Force, and the National Intelligence Service recently found out that he was dispatched to Russia along with his subordinate unit.

Lee Chang-ho, the head of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, who was dispatched together, has been subject to the Korean government's sanctions since 2022 as the head of the Reconnaissance General Bureau in charge of espionage and special warfare against South Korea.

The South Korean government believes that the Reconnaissance General Bureau is behind the North Korean hacking organization and has been earning foreign currency and stealing technology through illegal cyber activities.

Major General Shin Geum-chul's career is unknown, but given that he is a general-level officer, it is estimated that he is likely to remain in Russia and command the North Korean military.

Experts believe that the three generals released this time were sent as Kim Jong-un's representatives.

The Ukrainian delegation told the United Nations that the North Korean military is expected to be organized into units of at least 2,000 to 3,000 people and then integrated into the Russian military to conceal its existence.

Russia has named the operation to accommodate North Korean troops dispatched this time as a so-called "Eastern Plan," Japan's NHK reported, citing unnamed sources.

He also said he appointed a major general who served as the commander of the 76th Fair Division of the Russian Army as the head of Russia to operate the dispatched North Korean units.

Ukraine's President Zelensky, who revealed the size of the North Korean military's dispatch, emphasizes the threat of the North Korean military and calls for a strong response from the West.
