Yoon Kwan-seok, a former lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, was convicted of money envelopes at the 2021 Democratic National Convention.
The lower court sentenced him to two years in prison for ordering camp officials to raise 60 million won to elect former representative Song Young-gil.
During the trial, former lawmaker Yoon denied the charges, saying he only delivered the money envelope, but it was not accepted.

The Supreme Court's ruling is the first final ruling on the money envelope funding process, and an appellate trial is still underway on charges of "crossing" money envelopes to fellow lawmakers.
When former lawmaker Yoon was convicted by the Supreme Court, the admissibility of evidence of the "record of former Democratic Party Secretary-General Lee Jung-geun," which was the beginning of the case, was recognized.
As such, it is expected to affect the trial and investigation process of other former and current lawmakers mentioned in the call recording.
The prosecution believes that face-to-face investigations are necessary for other lawmakers suspected of receiving money envelopes, and is coordinating the subpoena schedule for six active lawmakers by mid-November.
Former lawmakers Lee Sung-man and Lim Jong-sung and Heo Jong-sik of the Democratic Party of Korea, who were indicted earlier, are continuing their appeals trial after receiving a suspended sentence of imprisonment in the first trial.
Former CEO Song Young-gil is also on trial for his involvement in spreading money envelopes, and the results of the first trial are expected to be as early as this year.
