In the run-up to the U.S. presidential election, U.S. adversaries such as Russia and Iran are trying to influence the results of the presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reported.

U.S. intelligence officials say Russia and Iran have been trying to win presidential candidates in their favor by spreading disinformation to Spanish speakers and other ethnic minority groups in the U.S. and encouraging divisions within society.

According to U.S. intelligence agencies, Russia wants former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, and Iran wants Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, to be elected in the presidential election.

Russia's case has invested heavily in Spanish content to influence this presidential election and the 2020 presidential election.

The number of Spanish-speaking Latino voters in the United States is estimated to be around 15% as of the 2020 presidential election, and both Democrats and Republicans are trying to win their votes in this presidential election.

"Russia sees the Spanish-speaking population as an opportunity to encroach into the United States," explained Valerie Wirtzshifter, a senior researcher at the think tank Brookings Institution.

In September, the U.S. government put Russian state broadcaster RT on a sanctions list for attempting to influence the U.S. presidential election.
