The U.S. state of Washington, which recently caught fire at a ballot box and damaged hundreds of ballots, has warned that it will issue an emergency alert to the National Guard in preparation for violence after the presidential election.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said in a statement posted on his website that he directs the Washington National Guard to prepare critical public safety aid by putting the necessary troops on standby.

It also described the wait as "a precautionary measure in response to warnings issued by the Department of Homeland Security regarding threats to election infrastructure and events in southwest Washington state."

The waiting order will take effect on the 4th and will be lifted immediately after midnight on the 8th.

Earlier on the 28th of last month, hundreds of ballots were damaged when a ballot box caught fire in Vancouver, southwest of Washington state.

According to the University of Florida Elections Research Institute, 2 million voters in Washington state have already cast their ballots.

Washington state is a region where Vice President Harris has a relatively clear lead, and a Seattle Times poll last month showed Vice President Harris with 57 percent support, beating former President Trump by 22 percentage points.
