EU diplomatic chief's visit to Korea..."We will upgrade security and defense cooperation with South Korea"

Rousseff Borrell, the European Union's high-ranking foreign and security representative, who visited South Korea after Japan, said he would upgrade security and defense cooperation to the next level.

"Over the past few years, we have made significant progress in our bilateral relationship through partnerships in digital, green and health, making us closer partners," Borrell wrote on social media after arriving in Seoul.

Senior Representative Borrell will co-chair the first Korea-EU Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol tomorrow (4th).

The Strategic Dialogue was established in May last year following the agreement of the Korea-EU summit, and measures to strengthen strategic partnership will be discussed.

In addition, the issue of sending North Korean troops, which has emerged as an urgent issue, and cooperation measures are expected to be discussed.

Senior Representative Borrell will also meet with Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun and visit the Panmunjom Joint Security Area.
