The Korean Intellectual Property Office will use artificial intelligence and AI to block so-called "fake" sales online, and introduce "patent priority screening" in the bio sector.

Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) Director Kim Wan-ki held a press conference at the Daejeon Government Complex today (5th) and announced that the number of industrial property rights of Korean companies will be increased from 1.53 million to 2 million by 2027 through this business promotion strategy.

To strengthen the virtuous cycle ecosystem of intellectual property, the Korean Intellectual Property Office will hire 60 private experts as patent examiners in three fields: bio, high-tech robots, and artificial intelligence in January next year, set up a dedicated examination organization in the bio field, and introduce a patent-first examination.

In addition, as the distribution of so-called "fake" and fake products increases through online shopping malls and overseas direct purchases, the survival of small and medium-sized brands is threatened, AI monitoring will be conducted to monitor and report sales posts on domestic and foreign platforms 24 hours a day.
