Truck fire in the tunnel...Driver's Hospital Transfer

At around 6:20 a.m. today (6th), a 5-ton truck on its way to Seongnam caught fire at the Baekma Tunnel in Sangdo-eup, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The fire caused a truck driver in his 50s to inhale smoke and be taken to a hospital.

Traffic was blocked to remove smoke from the tunnel, causing severe traffic congestion on the way to work.

The fire department once issued the first stage of response, mobilizing both the personnel and equipment of the competent fire department, and extinguished the fire in about 30 minutes.

The fire department believes the fire started on the truck's wheels and is investigating the cause of the fire in detail.
