The U.S. presidential election and counting of votes are underway. Please tell me about the situation.

[Reporter]
Yes, voting is still underway in some parts of the West, but counting has already begun, mainly in the East, where voting ended early.

Of the 538 electors, 270 people who secure magic numbers will win.

Former President Trump is leading the way in securing the overall number of electors.

So far, Vice President Harris has secured 91 electors, while former President Trump has now secured 195 electors, CNN reported.

The New York Times has so far secured 112 seats for Harris and 198 for Trump due to variations in media coverage.

Voting is currently underway in six of the seven contending states that will determine the victory or defeat of the presidential election, and there are many places where the two candidates are scrambling to win.

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris won one and Republican presidential candidate former President Trump won five.

Former President Trump has the upper hand in Georgia and North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Arizona, while Vice President Harris is only ahead in Michigan.

For Pennsylvania, which is considered a must-see battleground for both candidates
In the early part of
Vice President Harris was ahead of former President Trump and is now in reverse.

The exit polls are coming out one after another, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, at this time, U.S. broadcasters such as CNN and Fox News are voting.

Exit polls just showed that former President Trump will win in Montana, Utah.

In the first exit poll announcement, U.S. media reported that Harris won in Vermont, where three electors were assigned, and Trump won Indiana and Kentucky, where 11 and eight electors were at stake, respectively.

The U.S. has a wide country and a time difference, so it does not take place at once in the announcement of nationwide exit polls like Korea. The results of exit polls in more than 20 states will be announced sequentially.

According to a preliminary exit poll by U.S. pollster Edison Research, 48% of respondents nationwide said they had a favorable view of Vice President Harris, and only 44% said they had a favorable view of former President Trump.

Voters' favorability toward the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates has been lower and unfavorable than in the 2020 presidential election.

The 48% favorability rating for Harris is lower than the 52% that President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee for the 2020 presidential election, received in exit polls at the time.

Friendly views of former President Trump are also 2%P lower than in 2020.

54% of respondents viewed Trump as unfavorable, up from 52% in 2020.

When will the outline of the winner come out?

[Reporter]
It looks like it will take some time.

The results of the votes in the contest are key, because it is expected to take a considerable amount of time to confirm the results.

During the 2020 presidential election, it took four days to confirm the results.

In 2020, Trump led early in the vote count in major competing states, and early voting and mail-in voting were held, leading to a sharp rise in the special vote rate of Democratic candidate Biden.

This year, more than 83 million people participated in mail-in or face-to-face early voting due to the early voting craze, leading to predictions that it will take time to confirm the final winner.
