Is there anything wrong with the Korean nuclear power plant system?I'm here to check on the IAEA.

The International Atomic Energy Agency and the IAEA will hold an "integrated regulatory review service" for two weeks from tomorrow (11th) to check overall nuclear safety regulations in Korea.

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said it has decided to undergo international verification due to high regulatory demand such as small module reactors being developed by the state, SMR and "continued operation" of nuclear power plants currently in operation.

Twenty-one members of the inspection team, including Laura Dews, head of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, plan to visit the Saeul nuclear power plant and the waste disposal site and interview the inspection staff to prepare a report on the results.

This inspection is the first in 13 years since the first inspection in 2011, and Korea implemented 21 items out of 22 recommendations and suggestions presented by the IAEA during the first inspection.

The integrated regulatory review service is not mandatory, but the IAEA recommends that member states undergo inspections every 10 years.
