Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon urged the court to broadcast live the first trial of Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, scheduled for the 15th.
Mayor Oh made the request on Facebook, saying that the sentence of Lee on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act is not a criminal trial of an individual, but a trial that the sovereign should watch.
He then emphasized that the trial should also be conducted in front of the sovereign in person by bringing to justice the presidential debate and lies told by the sovereign people in parliament.
He also pointed out that public surveillance will be the best protection in a situation where the Democratic Party threatens the independence and fairness of the judiciary with "judge coordinates."
