Israeli forces struck northern Lebanon on the 11th local time, killing or injuring nearly 30 people, Reuters reported.

At least 14 people were killed and 15 injured when a building housing more than 30 people, including Syrian refugees, was bombed in the northern Lebanese city of Yakub, according to local authorities.

Yaqub is the northernmost point in Lebanon that Israel has launched since the Gaza war broke out in October last year after a Palestinian militant Hamas attack on Israel, Reuters said.

Some Lebanese media reported the death toll of the Yakub bombing alone as high as 30, the Times of Israel said.

"Most of the Israeli airstrikes were limited to southern Lebanon, Becca Valley, and Beirut," the newspaper said, noting that the target was unusual.

The Israeli military claimed it targeted military facilities with terrorists based on accurate information and took steps to minimize civilian damage.

On the same day, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah also fired about 90 rockets into the northern Israeli province of Haifa.

Israeli rescue officials say some citizens suffered minor injuries to missile debris and glass fragments.
