The global market capitalization of virtual currencies has topped $3 trillion in three years as bitcoin prices have soared to the brink of collapse after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's presidential victory.
The U.K. daily Financial Times, citing a tally by cryptocurrency data provider CoinZecko, said its market capitalization exceeded $3 trillion for the first time since early November 2021.
The market capitalization of virtual currency has soared by about 25% since the 5th when the U.S. presidential election was held, and the price of Bitcoin, a black stock that was traded in the $68,000 range just before the presidential election, has been breaking record highs every day since the presidential election.
The price of Bitcoin was trading at $88,413 as of 4:27 p.m. ET, up 10.98% from 24 hours ago.
Trump's presidential victory, which promised to become a "pro-bitcoin" president during the campaign, has highlighted Bitcoin and other virtual currencies as the biggest beneficiary assets of Trump's election, continuing a surge in prices.
