U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Fox News host Pete Hegseth as the defense secretary of the second Trump administration and Tesla CEO Elon Musk as the head of the government's efficiency department, AP reported on the 12th local time.
Hegseth is a former major in the army who fought in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and hosted programs on Fox News.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, will lead the next government efficiency committee along with businessman-turned-Vivek Ramaswamy.
"Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for our administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation and wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies essential to the Save America movement," Trump said in a statement.
Earlier, Musk was offered the head of the efficiency committee by Trump during the presidential campaign and reportedly expressed his intention to accept it, saying he wanted to dedicate himself to the country.
