"Inadequate Time" for Presidential Golf Course Use vs. "Internal Fire"

At the plenary session of the National Assembly's Defense Committee attended by Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, the ruling and opposition parties recently fought over President Yoon Suk Yeol's use of a military golf course.

Rep. Choo Mi-ae of the Democratic Party of Korea claimed that President Yoon was confirmed to have entered the military golf course eight times from August to the 9th of this month, and that the date was inappropriate, such as overlapping military drills or North Korea's spraying of filth balloons.

Rep. Kim Byung-joo also demanded that the Ministry of National Defense submit data, saying it is necessary to check whether the golf course fee was handled by the president's personal money or paid for security.

In response, Han Ki-ho, a member of the People's Power, refuted the Democratic Party's allegations, saying that former President Roh Moo Hyun and his wife often visited Gyeryongdae golf course and even a villa was built at that time.

Rep. Lim Jong-deuk also defended that President Yoon started golfing, which he had not played for years, to prepare for summit diplomacy with the United States, and that he could have prepared before the results of the U.S. presidential election because Trump was expected to win.
