Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT, said he would stake his position as a minister in the commercialization of technology.
At a briefing on the "Yoon Suk Yeol Government's Science and Technology Performance" held at the Seoul Government Complex, Minister Yoo said, "Even if innovative technologies come out, it is meaningless if they are not commercialized."
Minister Yoo pointed out that if the government-funded research institute spends 5 trillion won a year, it will produce 200 billion won, and the commercialization rate is the lowest among OECD countries, and emphasized the need to establish an ecosystem by preparing a player to implement technology commercialization.
Asked if the strengthening of U.S. nationalism would disrupt the government's R&D cooperation with the U.S., he said there is no possibility, adding that he would meet and communicate with U.S. government officials as soon as possible.
