A man in his 20s, who was trying to jump from Banpo Bridge in Seoul, was rescued in 20 minutes after a conversation with a crisis negotiation agent at Seocho Police Station who was dispatched to the scene.

According to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul today (18th), police received a report at around 8:50 p.m. on the 16th, saying, "I think my friend drank a lot and went to the Han River alone."

The police tracked down A's location and found him on a steel railing above Bridge 45 at the southern end of Banpo Bridge.

The police immediately asked the fire authorities to install an air mat, and they deployed two crisis negotiators specializing in responding to suicide attempters to persuade them.

The crisis negotiation agent reportedly continued the conversation by comforting A, saying, "How hard it was to come this far," and "If there is anything difficult, let's talk and think about it together."

He then held A's hands one by one and moved to the top of Banpo Bridge to succeed in the rescue.

Mr. A is said to have told the agents, "I was scared to be alone, but thank you for coming like this," and then confessed in detail about his difficulties while moving to the district.
