Ukraine called it a "game changer" for allowing the U.S. to strike mainland Russia with long-range missiles.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibyha met with reporters ahead of a U.N. Security Council meeting on the 18th local time and responded to the question, "How do you think the U.S. approval for the use of long-range missiles will affect the war?"

"The longer the strike distance in Ukraine, the shorter the war will be," Sibihah continued.

In addition, Ukraine has "full right to strike military targets within Russian territory," he said, adding that it would have a "very positive impact on the battlefield situation."

But there are also many sceptical prospects as to whether the move could have a decisive impact on the war.

The Guardian, a British daily, said, "It is uncertain what the military and political consequences will be," adding that the decisive effect of turning the tide of the war cannot be expected.

Patrick Burley, a professor at the University of Bath in Britain, also told the Associated Press that the U.S. policy change was "too late to have a big strategic impact" and "will only slow down the Russian offensive."
