Actress Yoo Ah-in (38, real name Eom Hong-sik), who was arrested in court in the first trial on charges of taking drugs regularly, appealed for leniency, referring to her father's image.

The second trial of Yoo Ah-in and acquaintance Choi, who were indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, was held at the Seoul High Court's Criminal Department 5 (Chief Judges Kwon Soon-hyung, Ahn Seung-hoon, and Shim Seung-woo) on the morning of the 19th.

Yoo Ah-in was arrested in court after receiving a one-year prison sentence in the first trial, and submitted an appeal on the grounds of misrepresentation and improper sentencing.

Yoo Ah-in suffered the death of her father in connection with this incident, the lawyer said, referring to Yoo Ah-in's father, who passed away on August 8, and saying, "We should live with guilt that his father's condition worsened because of himself and died." There will be no greater punishment than this," he said.

He also appealed, "In order to give joy to the public, I suffered a great blow to my life as an actor, and I have to live with the public's stinging eyes in the future," adding, "Please understand that the cost of the defendant due to the wrong choice involving depression is greater than that of the general public."

In addition, Yoo Ah-in emphasized that he was the first offender related to drug administration charges, and asked him to take into account his contributions to society as he has shown good influence, such as donating profits to socially vulnerable groups.

From September 2020 to March 2022, Yoo Ah-in was put on trial on charges of habitually administering medical propofol on 180 occasions under the guise of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic purposes. He is also accused of illegally buying 1,100 sleeping pills of two types under the name of others 44 times between May 2021 and August last year, and of smoking hemp three times in the United States with Choi and others in January this year and teaching others to smoke.

The first trial found marijuana smoking, habitual drug use, and habitual purchase of other people guilty. However, the allegation of a hemp smoking teacher and the charge of destroying evidence that asked acquaintances to erase the contents of their mobile phones when the investigation began were considered innocent, saying there was a lack of evidence.
