The Special Committee on Resolving the Power Gap of the People has decided to propose a bill to support women with career breaks.

The special committee held a meeting at the National Assembly and discussed the implementation of a bill that would increase the amount of subsidies given to hiring career breakers or middle-aged and elderly retirees to 2.4 million won, three times the current level.

It also plans to look at policies to link jobs that women with career breaks want and propose a revision to the employment age discrimination ban on the 22nd.

Cho Kyung-tae, chairman of the special committee, told reporters that while women's participation in the economy is rising, career breaks due to marriage, childbirth and childcare are also serious problems that negatively affect the country's economic growth.

At the same time, the special committee will hold three debates starting next week, with plans to gradually extend the retirement age, which is currently 60, to 65 by 2034.
