Japan's Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya refrained from commenting on the schedule of the Sado mine memorial ceremony, a site of forced labor during the Japanese occupation, saying the memorial ceremony was hosted by an executive committee composed of local governments and private organizations.

When asked about the schedule of the memorial service, Iwaya's foreign ministry said at a news conference.

At the same time, he avoided a definite answer, asking the executive committee, which is the organizer, to contact the coordination situation.

They only replied that they are considering whether Japanese central government officials will participate in the memorial service.

Earlier, Kyodo News reported that a memorial ceremony for Sado mine workers will be held at the Aikawa Development Center in Sado, Niigata Prefecture, on the 24th.

However, Korea and Japan have not officially announced the memorial service schedule.
