Prosecutors have also sought life imprisonment in the second trial for a U.S. lawyer from a large law firm who was put on trial for killing his wife.
The prosecution asked the court to sentence him to life in prison at the Seoul High Court today (20th) in a final hearing on the murder of a man in his 50s.
The prosecution explained the reason for the request, saying that A did not show remorse, such as claiming an accidental crime, and that the bereaved families of the victims were pleading for severe punishment.
Earlier, the prosecution also sought life imprisonment in the first trial, but the court sentenced him to 25 years in prison.
In December last year, A was arrested on charges of hitting his wife's separated head several times with a blunt instrument and strangling her to death at her home in Sajik-dong, Seoul.
