The People's Power demanded an ex officio investigation by the National Election Commission over allegations that the Democratic National Innovation Conference, a pro-democracy activist group of the Democratic Party of Korea, paid transportation fees to participants in the rally in front of the Seocho-dong court when Lee Jae-myung was sentenced to violating the Public Official Election Act.
Joo Jin-woo, chairman of the party's legal advisory committee, held a press conference at the National Assembly and claimed that the Democratic Innovation Conference's funding of transportation expenses such as flight flag prices to the Seocho-dong rally was illegal funding.
Regarding media reports that the Democratic Party is considering supporting representative Lee's defense, he added that he will ask for the NEC's interpretation of the authority, saying that it could provide illegal political funds and establish a crime of professional malpractice against the party.
