The European Union criticized Russia's attack on Ukraine with intercontinental ballistic missiles and ICBMs as a clear act of escalating tensions.
EU foreign affairs and security spokesman Peter Stano told reporters today (21st) that while looking at the overall facts, it is clear that such an attack is a clear escalation of tensions on the part of Putin.
He then expressed concern that if the Russian military confirmed the use of ICBMs, this would mean a quantitative and qualitative change in the war.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoane also said the ICBM launch was a very serious issue if true and that Russia wanted to continue to grow the war.
Ukraine's air force claimed an ICBM launched by Russia earlier today flew south of the Middle Eastern city of Dnip, which the Kremlin has not confirmed.
